  • Winslow Homer in America at the Paine Art Museum

    This exhibition features 125 original wood engravings by one of America’s most beloved artists, nineteenth-century painter and printmaker Winslow Homer (1836-1910). Homer began his professional career in 1857, working as a freelance illustrator for Harper’s Weekly and other popular publications of the day. With a keen sense of observation and artistic originality, Homer created dozens of iconic images depicting politics, war, and everyday life in America from the late 1850s through the late 1880s. From 1860 to 1865, Homer served as a field correspondent chronicling events leading up to and during the Civil War. His Civil War scenes are among the most powerful and accurate records of Union troop experiences ever produced. When the war ended, Homer turned his attention toward nationalistic concerns, reflecting the post-War nostalgia for America’s past through a variety of engaging themes, such as rural life, leisurely pursuits, and childhood.

    Enjoy a day of off road racing competitions, picnics and fun events at gorgeous Camrock Park. The trails are waiting. Wisconsin Off-Road Series Event (WORS) by Capital Off-Road Pathfinders is held at CamRock III. Capital Off-Road Pathfinders has worked for years to build CamRock Park into one of the hidden gems of mountain biking in Wisconsin. CORP is a volunteer organization that builds and maintains the majority of the off-road cycling trails in Dane County. We are working diligently to make the Battle of CamRock a race that you will look forward to every year. The trail system at CamRock is a blend of wide and fast flowing single-track that runs through open fields of prairie grass, wooded single-track with bermed turns, and more technical single-track with a touch of roots and rocks. The Battle of CamRock course contains some great downhill sections that will have you begging for another lap. From Citizen to Elite, all courses contain fun single-track, numerous feed zones, and finish with a grass double-track climb before sprinting to the finish.
