In past years, more than 30 skiplanes landed at Pioneer Airport to participate in the event, showcasing this unique segment of flight that is quite popular throughout many parts of North America. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 1:30 p.m. Most skiplanes arrive (weather and runway conditions permitting) mid-morning and stay until mid-afternoon. In the event weather or snow conditions do not permit aircraft arrivals at Pioneer Airport, several other activities will continue as planned, including complimentary chili and cake served beginning at 10:30 a.m. The EAA Skiplane Fly-In is free of charge to the general public. Signs will direct visitors to the skiplane area upon arrival to the museum. Shuttle services will also operate from Basler Flight Service for those landing at Wittman Regional Airport. Regular admission rates apply for guests visiting the museum itself.

  • Winslow Homer in America at the Paine Art Museum

Oshkosh, WI - Eastern Waters & Door County

This exhibition features 125 original wood engravings by one of America’s most beloved artists, nineteenth-century painter and printmaker Winslow Homer (1836-1910). Homer began his professional career in 1857, working as a freelance illustrator for Harper’s Weekly and other popular publications of the day. With a keen sense of observation and artistic originality, Homer created dozens of iconic images depicting politics, war, and everyday life in America from the late 1850s through the late 1880s. From 1860 to 1865, Homer served as a field correspondent chronicling events leading up to and during the Civil War. His Civil War scenes are among the most powerful and accurate records of Union troop experiences ever produced. When the war ended, Homer turned his attention toward nationalistic concerns, reflecting the post-War nostalgia for America’s past through a variety of engaging themes, such as rural life, leisurely pursuits, and childhood.
