A Victorian Swan On Water

Satisfied guests have been returning to this authentic 1889 Victorian home since 1986. Located in the center of the state, we are the perfect meeting place for friends and family and a convenient headquarters for a Wisconsin vacation. We are a fine stop between Minnesota and Door County, Illinois and Lake Superior.

Our restored home still has the original crown moldings and unique woodworking of a past era. Common rooms with bookshelves, fireplace and hide-away nooks invite you to curl up and read. On the front porch, sit in wicker chairs and watch the world go by or enjoy the flower gardens.

Three of our rooms have private balconies, most have king or queen beds, three have fireplaces and all have private baths and antique furnishings. Our suites include either a whirlpool bath or a sauna. All the rooms have full-length mirrors, hair dryers, wineglasses with opener, alarm clocks and bathrobes among other amenities. Wireless Internet will keep you connected if feel the need to be connected.

One of our most luxurious offerings is our in-house massage - a perfect way to relax and unwind. We do need advance notice to schedule but this is an activity you will certainly enjoy.

Morning brings the fresh smell of coffee and a delicious breakfast baking in the oven. Recapture the lost art of conversation as you meet new friends or catch up with past friends.

There are many discoveries to be made during your visit. Walk along the river or in one of our many parks. Browse unique shops in our historic downtown, play a game at our award winning Sentry Golf Course, visit our wonderful
Galleries and artists, or take advantage of one of Wisconsin's finest hike/bike trail - the Green Circle.

A Victorian Swan on Water has always practiced sustainable green living but now we are part of Travel Green Wisconsin, an Eco tourism effort, and invite you to help us keep our world healthy.

Whether you stay for a day or for weeks, you will find A Victorian Swan on Water the place for comfort, good food and good conversation. You are invited.

Newly Built B&Bs Do Exist in Wisconsin 02/02/2012 There’s a long-standing myth the B&B industry can’t seem to shake and it’s that all inns are Victorian with antiques and doilies everywhere.  It’s just not so.  Styles of architecture among B&Bs in Wisconsin run from historic mansions to lakeside cabins to ultra-contemporary new builds.  Let’s focus on that last...

Wisconsin B&Bs for Business Travelers 01/31/2012 A Wisconsin B&B may not be the first type of lodging that comes to mind when planning a business trip, but give it a try.  Lots of inns offer corporate rates and even have meeting rooms right on premise.  Other reasons to stay at a B&B for business?  It’s quiet,...

Warm Up with Soup (and Grilled Cheese) 01/25/2012 Some might call it a classic combination – tomato soup and grilled cheese.  Of course, with it being Wisconsin, we always suggest making the sandwich using an artisan cheese.  Download the brochure of artisan cheese varieties and think about pairing two or three cheeses.  Then whip up this recipe for...
