Escape by the Lake

Nestled among mature pines, Escape by the Lake spans 100 feet of beautiful Lake Mallalieu shoreline along the scenic lower St. Croix River.

Located on the former site of North Shore Resort, serenity still abounds. Our lakeshore retreat hosts the best of nature--from majestic eagles to vigorous walleye. Let Escape by the Lake's calm surrounds nurture you and soothe the soul.

Birdwatch from the deck, fish from the dock, or escape on the paddleboat. Simply bask in the year-around pleasures of the lake.

Sparkling summers ease into autumn's brilliant show of changing leaves along the lakeshore followed by a peaceful blanket of white. Winter is perfect for cross-country skiing, ice fishing, or simply enjoying the view.

With just two guest rooms, you are assured of VIP treatment. Choose from the Garden Room or the Grand View Suite.

The Garden Room overlooks the lake through south-facing patio doors that open to the three season porch. Decorated in Euro-lake cottage, the room offers a fireplace, whirlpool tub, large shower, queen size bed and tv/vcr.

The Grand View Suite has an entire wall of windows providing a breath-taking view of the lake. The room is decorated in traditional furnishing and has a wood burning fireplace, whirlpool tub, queen size bed, sitting area, and tv/vcr. The three-season porch is accessible through the east door in this room.

With Minneapolis/St. Paul just minutes away, escape while you stay connected. It's your choice. So whenever travels bring you to the area--or you simply crave a retreat--come, be our guests, and escape .....

Two More B&B Myths to Dispel 02.10.2010
Time to dispel a B&B myth or two.  First, there’s this notion that innkeepers hover. Not true. They are there when you need them, but otherwise keep busy behind the scenes while respecting your privacy. Just like the best five-star hotels. Myth #2: You have to eat breakfast at a communal table. The answer in many cases is no.  Some [...]

Performing Arts Season Is Music To B&Bers Ears 02.10.2010
Seems some of our innkeepers believe in the sound of music to soothe the weary traveler.  There’s a Jazz Brunch at Fountain Chateau B&B in Hustler.  A regular sing-along to benefit local charities at the Audubon Inn in Mayville.  And on-site concerts at the Parsonage B&B in Madison and Tufts’ Mansion in Neillsville. In Green [...]

Winners of 2009 Wisconsin B&B Recipe Cook-off 01.11.2010
A comfortable bed is just half of the B&B promise.  The other half is food!  The end of the year brought the second annual Wisconsin B&B cook-off with innkeepers around the state competing for bragging rights.  This year’s featured ingredient was wild rice.  Did you know it’s a grain and tastes incredibly good in both [...]
