Fountain Prairie Inn and Farms

A visit to Fountain Prairie Inn & Farms is a truly unique experience; imagine a restored three story Queen Anne house on a working farm and you have Fountain Prairie Inn and Farms.  We combine the casual elegance of our home with the great outdoors.

Our 350 head of Scottish Highland cattle are show stoppers with their long hair and long horns.  Who can resist the cute calves with their chubby knees!  We encourage you to ask questions about our farm and how we raise our animals.  Tours of our farm are offered to guests, weather permitting.  The tour includes a close up look at our cattle as well as our restored tallgrass prairie and wetlands.  Bird watching is encouraged!

Breakfast, mmmmmmm, breakfast; organic free trade coffee or Stash tea start your morning.  Breakfast is prepared from fresh local ingredients including meats and berries from our farm and most everything else from our farmer friends at the Dane County Farmers' Market.  Everything is made from scratch; your breakfast might include oatmeal buttermilk pancakes with real Wisconsin maple syrup, or perhaps a frittata brimming with the goodness of local cheese and tomatoes.

Find a quiet spot to read and relax, bike the local country roads or shop for that special antique treasure--make Fountain Prairie Inn & Farms your home while you explore the area.

Slow Food Movement is a Natural for Wisconsin B&Bs 08.09.2010
The Slow Food philosophy is a good, clean and fair food – it should taste good and celebrate culture and regional diversity; it should be produced in a clean way that is as good for the planet as it is for our bodies; and food producers should receive fair compensation for their work. So [...]

Best Farmers Markets in Wisconsin and the B&Bs That Are Nearby 08.09.2010
Seems every farmers’ market in Wisconsin has a personality all its own. Which makes a Saturday morning stroll through tents filled with juicy fruit, fresh-from-the-field veggies, luscious baked goods, honey, even eye-popping bouquets of flowers a nice addition to your B&B itinerary. Bet you’ll even find some garden art or homemade crafts. [...]
