Garden Gate Bed and Breakfast

The Garden Gate is a premier Victorian bed and breakfast located in Door County Wisconsin, often considered the "Cape Cod of the Midwest."  It welcomes you with its friendly hospitality and elegant breakfast served every morning in the dining room, accompanied by music and candlelight.

Start your day with us after enjoying one of the comfortable, air conditioned, antique-filled rooms, which also feature televisions, DVD/VCR and CD players.

The Garden Gate is just two blocks from Sturgeon Bay's historical downtown where you'll find Maritime Museum, Third Ave Playhouse, shopping on Jefferson Street with its quaint shops, art galleries and fine restaurants.

The county has five state parks, ten lighthouses and over 300 miles of scenic shoreline to attract artisans, painters, pottery makers, songwriters and a great getaway from everyday life.

Stroll along the scenic shorefront and make a sunset memory with someone special.  Attend a wooden boat show, a bass or trout tournament, a game of golf, a bicycle ride, a trolley ride, a fish boil with a piece of cherry pie (Door County favorites!)

End your day with an evening dessert .... a good night's sleep and dream about your breakfast ....

Head Out on the Highway 05/17/2013 So often we tout the bike trails in Wisconsin and suggest ideas for biking between B&Bs. Time to give some due to the other two-wheeled form of travel – motorcycling. We just learned that seven communities in the region of western Wisconsin known as the “driftless area” – an area...

Some B&B Myths Die Hard 05/13/2013 A recent post by writer Andrew Knowlton, (aka “The Foodist”) at Bon Appétit magazine had us shaking our heads and tsk-tsking. Try as we might in the B&B industry to dispel myths, some food writers simply haven’t  gotten the message. So, first read his post here, then continue with our...

What’s the #1 Reason to B&B? 05/09/2013 According to industry research, a whopping 87% of travelers head to B&Bs for romance. We love that! This time of year also brings to mind that famous quote from Lord Tennyson: “In the spring, a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.” Let’s add woman’s too. At any...
