Hotel Ruby Marie

When you step into the Hotel Ruby Marie Bed and Breakfast, of Madison, Wisconsin, you are welcomed with a wonderful blend of old world romance with modern day excitement.  This historic building of Madison first received its hotel license in 1873, primarily used as an railroad hotel. After switching ownership and names over the decades, the building has still retained its beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture, a feature that adds to the distinctiveness of the Hotel Ruby Marie Bed and Breakfast.

Your room, flavored with beautiful, yet simple, Victorian decor, is comfortable with all the modern amenities and a private bath.  Each room at the Hotel Ruby Marie has its own distinct features - many boasting breath-taking views, a wonderful fireplace, a wet bar, a whirlpool tub or walk-in shower, and a private balcony. Tasteful antiques, cozy down comforters, soda, and a newspaper are just a few flairs that add to the charm of the Hotel Ruby Marie Bed and Breakfast.   In the mornings, wake up to a fresh, continental plus breakfast downstairs at the Lakeview Bakery, or a savory, full breakfast on the weekends.  Afterwards, you will be ready to engage in the many activities located right outside our doorstep.

The Hotel Ruby Marie Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located across from the majestic Lake Monona, where the cool lake breeze will greet you on a bike ride, or a walk along the lake path.  Also, the Hotel Ruby Marie is within easy walking distance from Capitol Square, where not only will you find our beautiful State Capitol building, but you'll also find many restaurants, a Saturday morning Farmers Market, and on Wednesday night Concerts on the Square.  Or, check out the famous architecture of the Frank Lloyd Wright Monona Terrace Convention Center, the busy shops of State Street, or the active UW campus, all located near the inn.

When you stay at the Hotel Ruby Marie Bed and Breakfast, you are in the heart of the exciting nightlife district of Madison.  Downstairs from the inn is the Up North Saloon, which is a former railroad saloon of decades past.  There you can enjoy old wilderness atmosphere and service.  Or, head next door for a little taste of Germany at the famous Essen Haus, a bustling beer hall that has everything from weinerschnitzel to authentic polka bands.  Then stop by the Come Back In, where the beer selection is extensive, the popcorn is free, and the people are always friendly.

The Hotel Ruby Marie Bed and Breakfast is truly an experience wrapped in historic charm, modern day comforts, and exciting surroundings.  We invite you to unwind and surround yourself with comfort at this distinctive 19th century inn.

The Hotel Ruby Marie, built as a railroad hotel in the mid 1800's, is Madison's oldest operating inn.  Fifteen rooms offer comfort and convenience with refrigerators, in room coffee, private baths, and breakfast -  week-days: homemade continental - week-ends: full breakfast at our own restaurant

Relax and watch a movie on your TV/VCR, or visit the Up North Saloon on our first floor, where you will enjoy the camaraderie and friendliness of Madison.  The inn not only has its own saloon, but is next to the famous Essen Haus, where one can enjoy an authentic German Meal or a "boot" of beer.  Or, take a stroll to any of the restaurants within easy walking distance.  Enjoy the history of this wonderful inn as you relax in front of the fireplace or soak in a whirlpool tub.  If a romantic evening is planned, take a carriage ride around beautiful downtown Madison.  The Hotel Ruby Marie has everything you want for your visit to Madison
