Inn at Lonesome Hollow
Inn at Lonesome HollowOur Inn is situated on 160 rural acres near Soldiers Grove, a sleepy little village located on the Kickapoo River in southwest Wisconsin. The Inn is about one hour south of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and 35 mintues northeast of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The Mississippi, Wisconsin, and Kickapoo Rivers all converge here to help form the character of the land.Located in the main Inn are 3 deluxe bedrooms, each with private baths. The Inn's common area includes a dining table, television, phone, and reading area. The Inn is centrally heated and air conditioned. Full country breakfasts are offered in the mornings. Wine and cheese are served Saturday afternoons. Complimentary soft drinks, coffee and tea are available anytime. Guests have a patio for enjoying the fresh country air and the lovely views. Most of the B&B furnishings are locally made Amish oak furniture. Amish quilts cover some of our beds. We can direct you to local Amish crafts people if you wish to explore furniture, quilt, or craft purchases for yourself. In May of 2005, we opened two two-bedroom suites in a spectatular new house in the most private area of our valley. The new house is called The Homestead because it is located only 100 feet from the original farm homestead house. The suites may be rented individually or the entire Homestead may be rented for groups up to 8 people-four bedrooms, two baths, two whirlpools, two fireplaces, full kitchen, total privacy - a great group facility. If you value excellent lodging quality, ultimate privacy, and a 360 degree view of beautiful Driftless Area landscape, the Homestead is for you. New in 2006! We have just added wireless internet access at the main inn at Lonesome Hollow. Catch up on email or check in at the office from the privacy of your room or from the inn's common areas. All of our private valley can be viewed from the Inn. Our valley is surrounded on three sides by steep 300 foot hills, part of the Ocooch Mountains of Southwest Wisconsin. The property extends up onto a ridge top, which offers almost 2 miles of private hiking trails. Our Inn is surrounded by hardwood forests mixed in with the oak, maple, and hickory trees as well as blackberry bushes, white cedar, birch and aspen. The valley and ridge are home to deer, wild turkey, fox, red tailed hawks, and great horned owls. We are constantly adding to our list of birds and wildflowers that we have observed in our valley and on our ridge. Our skies are completely free of light pollution, and star gazing is superb. | |||||||||||||||||||
