Inn at Wawanissee Point

From the moment you enter the Inn at Wawanissee Point, you realize that you are in no ordinary Bed & Breakfast. The Inn at Wawanissee Point offers one of the most scenic, peaceful and romantic getaways in South Central Wisconsin. Its magnificent blend of luxurious accommodations and captivating views are nestled in the pristine 42 acre wooded estate located in the nationally renowned Baraboo Hills. This geological treasure is surrounded by country gardens, flowing springs and abundant wildlife. The Inn is open year round and adjacent to Devil's Lake State Park and Devils' Head Ski and Golf Resort. It is within short driving distance to Wollersheim Winery, Wisconsin Dells, Mirror Lake, International Crane Foundation, Ho-Chunk Casino, Circus World Museum, American Players Theatre and the State Capital in Madison. Hiking on the estate's private trails, Devil's Lake State Park or exploring the Ice Age Trail affords one the opportunity to awaken the senses with the unique sights, smells and sounds of the back country. Is is the perfect spot for enjoying moonlit nights & constellation sightings. The Inn's amazing southern vista provides a 180 degree panoramic view of the Lake Wisconsin Valley and the States' Capital Dome in Madison can be seen 36 miles away!

There are four luxuriously decorated guest rooms from which you may choose to be your retreat for a night, a weekend, or for however long you wish. Upon arrival, you will be greeted in the Great Room. It is there that you are immediately awe-inspired by the view through the massive window. Richly detailed oak and warm cedar surround the contemporary luxury sitting areas next to the large fieldstone fireplace and a baby grand piano. For your comfort and relaxation, all guest rooms include: private bath, TV, DVD player, Bose radio/CD player, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, mirror, hair dryer, plush robes, reading lamp, extra pillows and blanket. Each evening turn-down service is provided. Enjoy the sauna, hot tub or schedule an in-room massage. Relax in-season in the hammock or lounge chairs with your favorite book .

The Inn provides a delightful gourmet breakfast for you each morning which is served in the sunroom, dining area or on the main veranda. Breakfasts can also be modified to dietary specifications. Lunch and dinner is not served, but there are many fine restaurants within a short drive to Baraboo, Wisconsin Dells or the Lake Wisconsin area. Enjoy the wine & cheese hour in the Indigo Lounge each evening.

We are always available to answer questions about local attractions or to give directions to get our guests to their next destination. Outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, photographers, cyclists and cross country skiers enjoy the recreational activities nearby. For Snow Lovers, the Inn features Snowshoeing with free use of the equipment. Liveries on the Wisconsin River rent canoes and excellent fishing can be found in the nearby lakes, rivers and streams. Nearby golf courses challenge visiting pros. Nearby horse trails beckon guests with pleasurable riding. The famous Ice Age Trail entices hikers, as do well marked trails at Devils Lake State Park.

Wawanissee Point offers acres of wildflower meadow and woodland trails for great birding. Two state conservation organizations recently designated the Baraboo Hills as an "Important Bird Area", about 135 species of birds breed in the hills. Bird feeders are placed throughout the grounds for your enjoyment. A guest favorite is the close up viewing of hummingbirds while enjoying a gourmet breakfast. Best of all, this B&B is located close to a migration and nesting place for American bald eagles where they roost during the winter months. Bird books and field guides are available for guest use.

Businesses needing a site for small retreats will find the Inn's relaxed atmosphere perfect. The peaceful setting eliminates the stress of everyday life. The luxurious rooms, common areas and conference room are ideal for bringing top people together for meetings .... high in the Baraboo Range, where you can see far and clear. There is free wireless high-speed internet access throughout the Inn.

Two More B&B Myths to Dispel 02.10.2010
Time to dispel a B&B myth or two.  First, there’s this notion that innkeepers hover. Not true. They are there when you need them, but otherwise keep busy behind the scenes while respecting your privacy. Just like the best five-star hotels. Myth #2: You have to eat breakfast at a communal table. The answer in many cases is no.  Some [...]

Performing Arts Season Is Music To B&Bers Ears 02.10.2010
Seems some of our innkeepers believe in the sound of music to soothe the weary traveler.  There’s a Jazz Brunch at Fountain Chateau B&B in Hustler.  A regular sing-along to benefit local charities at the Audubon Inn in Mayville.  And on-site concerts at the Parsonage B&B in Madison and Tufts’ Mansion in Neillsville. In Green [...]

Winners of 2009 Wisconsin B&B Recipe Cook-off 01.11.2010
A comfortable bed is just half of the B&B promise.  The other half is food!  The end of the year brought the second annual Wisconsin B&B cook-off with innkeepers around the state competing for bragging rights.  This year’s featured ingredient was wild rice.  Did you know it’s a grain and tastes incredibly good in both [...]
