Neumann House Bed and Breakfast

Located in Prairie du Chien, oldest community on the Upper Mississippi River, the Neumann House was built in 1858.  Let it be your starting point for exploring the area's many attractions.  Spring's apple blossom time in neighboring orchards and autumn's harvest of color make the territory a photographer's paradise.  Hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails are readily accessible from Prairie du Chien.  Walk to downtown shops and restaurants as well as the newly restored Victorian country estate, Villa Louis.

The Neumann House is furnished with a bend of antiques and traditional pieces that create a comfortable environment.  In winter months, the parlor is given a cozy warmth by the fireplace, making it the perfect spot to curl up with a novel, your needlepoint or the Sunday paper.  On summer nights, stargaze from a wicker settee on our wrap-around front porch.

Accommodations at the Neumann House include three guest rooms with private baths. Our queen bed-ed room can become a two bedroom suite (sleeping 4) for an additional fee.

Six friendly felines reside at Neumann House.  Each has its own unique personality.  Most of our guests find a few minutes for a quick pet or scratch under the chin of one of our girls.  Because this is their home guest pets cannot be accommodated.

Newly Built B&Bs Do Exist in Wisconsin 02/02/2012 There’s a long-standing myth the B&B industry can’t seem to shake and it’s that all inns are Victorian with antiques and doilies everywhere.  It’s just not so.  Styles of architecture among B&Bs in Wisconsin run from historic mansions to lakeside cabins to ultra-contemporary new builds.  Let’s focus on that last...

Wisconsin B&Bs for Business Travelers 01/31/2012 A Wisconsin B&B may not be the first type of lodging that comes to mind when planning a business trip, but give it a try.  Lots of inns offer corporate rates and even have meeting rooms right on premise.  Other reasons to stay at a B&B for business?  It’s quiet,...

Warm Up with Soup (and Grilled Cheese) 01/25/2012 Some might call it a classic combination – tomato soup and grilled cheese.  Of course, with it being Wisconsin, we always suggest making the sandwich using an artisan cheese.  Download the brochure of artisan cheese varieties and think about pairing two or three cheeses.  Then whip up this recipe for...
