Pin Cherry Inn

The clean, bright, and elegant quarters of Pin Cherry Inn provide all the comforts of home, and none of the amenities are shared with other guests or the innkeepers.  Our guests may cook meals in the fully equipped kitchen, wash laundry in the complimentary laundry room, watch television in the comfort of the living room on the large, flat-screen television, or read quietly in the sitting room, all in complete privacy.  There is a garage available where you may store your bicycles, or borrow ours which are kept there.

The suite is complete with bathroom, kitchen, laundry, sitting room/bedroom, and two bedrooms.  It can sleep up to six.  The guest receives the entire suite regardless of the number of people.

In the self-catering model, we will provide you, at the beginning of your stay and as needed, with the elements of your breakfast and beverages you can serve yourself whenever you like.  We enjoy wine, and provide several bottles for you to choose from.  You may either replace them with a wine of your choice before you leave, or pay a nominal fee for us to do so.

Your hosts, Cari Witcher and Andrew Violet, live at Pin Cherry Inn with our young daughter, Clara, and our two dogs in private quarters which are separate from the guest suite.  We are right here if you need anything or want some company, but you will hardly notice us if solitude is what you seek.  You might see us out in the gardens, going for a walk, cooking dinner on the grill, or enjoying a beverage outside in nice weather.

You are welcome to explore our one acre lot, view the gardens, use the outdoor fire pit, enjoy the outdoor sitting area, or use our gas grill.

We are committed to sustainability, and do our best to keep the inn environmentally friendly.  The food items we provide to our guests are organic and local whenever possible, and always natural and healthy.  We use green cleaning products and provide recycled paper products.  Our gardens are grown without chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.  We incorporate many native plants and trees into our landscape.

Pin Cherry Inn is located in Downsville, Wisconsin, 6 miles south of Menomonie in Dunn County.  In beautiful Western Wisconsin, our village hugs the Red Cedar River and the Red Cedar State Trail.  We are also near the Chippewa River and the Chippewa State Trail.  These trails are ideal for walking, biking, running, and skiing.  The rivers provide beautiful canoeing, tubing, fishing, and even swimming.  We have two bicycles and a trailer to pull behind a bicycle that you may use during your stay.

Our inn is mere blocks from The Creamery Restaurant and Inn.  The Creamery, under new ownership, provides an elegant, fine dining experience, open for dinner and brunch.  They also have a small cafe serving nominally priced lunch and bakery items as well as teas and espresso drinks.

Pin Cherry Inn and our neighbors, The Creamery and Dunn County Pottery, all display beautiful perennial and annual flower gardens lush with unique flowering and foliage plants.  We focus on native plants of the prairie and woodlands.

Dunn County Pottery, two blocks from our inn, features the hand made stone ware and terra cotta pottery of John Thomas.  John opened his pottery in Downsville in 1973.  He creates beautiful, functional pots for the kitchen and garden.

You will find some of John's work in Pin Cherry Inn as well as pieces from other local craftspeople and artists.

Slow Food Movement is a Natural for Wisconsin B&Bs 08.09.2010
The Slow Food philosophy is a good, clean and fair food – it should taste good and celebrate culture and regional diversity; it should be produced in a clean way that is as good for the planet as it is for our bodies; and food producers should receive fair compensation for their work. So [...]

Best Farmers Markets in Wisconsin and the B&Bs That Are Nearby 08.09.2010
Seems every farmers’ market in Wisconsin has a personality all its own. Bet you’ll even find some garden art or homemade crafts. [...]
