Quiet Cottage on the Lake

Enjoy Door County at its finest! Offering one private suite opening to the lake, this charming log home that is Quiet Cottage provides privacy, seclusion, and a romantic ambiance to make your stay a special experience. The first floor, air conditioned "Whitefish Bay Suite" with its own entrance features a large, gracious bedroom furnished with magnificent walnut antiques and dressed with line-dried bed linens.  French doors access the ground-level deck and lakeshore. Attached are a private sitting room with library, cable TV, CD player, DVD, high-speed internet connection, limited copy service, bar refrigerator and a luxurious private bath complimented with a claw foot tub and a separate shower. You may choose to start your day with early morning coffee watching the sun appear to rise out of the lake. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast on the deck or in front of the fireplace. Then walk the beach, stroll the English gardens, relax in the hammock, or explore the Door County peninsula for quaint shops, art galleries, and antiques. Perhaps a nearby golf course would appeal to you. Finish your day with a campfire by the lake, perhaps even roasting a s'more or two! Your hostess and innkeeper, Debby Sween, will graciously accommodate your individual dietary requirements and can offer you suggestions for local attractions, special festivals and evening dining. Arrangements can be made for a massage therapist who will come to your suite to add to your pampering experience. Door County's premier single suite B & B on the lake is also a great place for bird-watching or a walk in the woods. Whether it is your honeymoon, an anniversary, a birthday or a much-deserved vacation, come, get away from the business and bustle of your daily life and relax. Listen to the waves break on the shore. Watch the moon rise. Let the peace of Quiet Cottage embrace you.

Newly Built B&Bs Do Exist in Wisconsin 02/02/2012 There’s a long-standing myth the B&B industry can’t seem to shake and it’s that all inns are Victorian with antiques and doilies everywhere.  It’s just not so.  Styles of architecture among B&Bs in Wisconsin run from historic mansions to lakeside cabins to ultra-contemporary new builds.  Let’s focus on that last...

Wisconsin B&Bs for Business Travelers 01/31/2012 A Wisconsin B&B may not be the first type of lodging that comes to mind when planning a business trip, but give it a try.  Lots of inns offer corporate rates and even have meeting rooms right on premise.  Other reasons to stay at a B&B for business?  It’s quiet,...

Warm Up with Soup (and Grilled Cheese) 01/25/2012 Some might call it a classic combination – tomato soup and grilled cheese.  Of course, with it being Wisconsin, we always suggest making the sandwich using an artisan cheese.  Download the brochure of artisan cheese varieties and think about pairing two or three cheeses.  Then whip up this recipe for...
