Rittenhouse Inn

The Rittenhouse Inn is Bayfield's first Country Inn, Bed & Breakfast, and Gourmet Restaurant. We offer 20 distinctive guest rooms in 3 historic Bayfield homes. Rooms range from $109 to $349, with a wide variety of unique accommodations. Features include wood burning fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, King and Queen beds, antique furnishings, and scenic views of Lake Superior.

The Rittenhouse's gourmet restaurant is open to the public for breakfast, lunch (May through October), and dinner. Executive Chef, David Miller, showcases the regional harvest of the Bayfield Peninsula. Whenever possible, our cuisine is organically grown and locally raised.

Evening dining options include a new 2-Course Petite Menu from 5-6 pm. Guests choose soup or salad, and an entrée with side dishes, all from our full dining menu. Our Signature 5-Course Dinner is served 5-9 pm, and includes soup, salad, sorbet, entrée with side dishes, and dessert.

The Rittenhouse Inn also offers a wide range of wedding services, and perfect location for a destination wedding in Bayfield. Contact our Special Events Coordinator, who is happy to help with all your plans: events@rittenhouseinn.com

Year-round Special Events at the Rittenhouse Inn include wine and beer tastings, antiques and B&B seminars, theatre and mystery weekends, festive dinner concerts, and "taste" events such as Taste of the Tropics, and Taste of Ireland weekends.

We are located just blocks from Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, including Madeline Island. The area holds attractions for all ages including sailing, boating, swimming, fishing, shopping, kayaking, biking, hiking, birdwatching, scenic home tours, a ghostwalk, and so much more.

Newly Built B&Bs Do Exist in Wisconsin 02/02/2012 There’s a long-standing myth the B&B industry can’t seem to shake and it’s that all inns are Victorian with antiques and doilies everywhere.  It’s just not so.  Styles of architecture among B&Bs in Wisconsin run from historic mansions to lakeside cabins to ultra-contemporary new builds.  Let’s focus on that last...

Wisconsin B&Bs for Business Travelers 01/31/2012 A Wisconsin B&B may not be the first type of lodging that comes to mind when planning a business trip, but give it a try.  Lots of inns offer corporate rates and even have meeting rooms right on premise.  Other reasons to stay at a B&B for business?  It’s quiet,...

Warm Up with Soup (and Grilled Cheese) 01/25/2012 Some might call it a classic combination – tomato soup and grilled cheese.  Of course, with it being Wisconsin, we always suggest making the sandwich using an artisan cheese.  Download the brochure of artisan cheese varieties and think about pairing two or three cheeses.  Then whip up this recipe for...
