***Morel Mushroom Festival is in Muscoda May 15, 16 & 17, 2009!***

Built in 1897 by local lumber baron John Young, this beautiful Victorian Mansion is the crown jewel of Muscoda. A small but vibrant community located on the Wisconsin River in beautiful Southwest Wisconsin. The area features year around recreational opportunities that include canoeing, bicycling, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. There are numerous craft shows, antique galleries and other festivals to delight you. The area is also a favorite with motorcycle riders who love to travel the beautiful highways along the Wisconsin River or just explore the many roads that wind through the magnificent hills of the area.

The house features a grand open staircase, hard-wood floors of oak, walnut and maple. There are pocket doors, beveled crystal windows and hand-carved entrance doors. In winter, guests enjoy breakfast by a cozy fire in the formal dining room. In summer, the morning meal is served outside on the half-moon deck.

The mansion is decorated in period style. The American Beauty Room and the Peace Rose Room have their own in-room baths. The American Beauty guests can enjoy a shower for two. Time to dispel a B&B myth or two.  First, there’s this notion that innkeepers hover. Not true. They are there when you need them, but otherwise keep busy behind the scenes while respecting your privacy. Just like the best five-star hotels. Myth #2: You have to eat breakfast at a communal table. The answer in many cases is no.  Some [...]

Performing Arts Season Is Music To B&Bers Ears 02.10.2010
Seems some of our innkeepers believe in the sound of music to soothe the weary traveler.  There’s a Jazz Brunch at Fountain Chateau B&B in Hustler.  A regular sing-along to benefit local charities at the Audubon Inn in Mayville.  And on-site concerts at the Parsonage B&B in Madison and Tufts’ Mansion in Neillsville. In Green [...]

Winners of 2009 Wisconsin B&B Recipe Cook-off 01.11.2010
A comfortable bed is just half of the B&B promise.  The other half is food!  The end of the year brought the second annual Wisconsin B&B cook-off with innkeepers around the state competing for bragging rights.  This year’s featured ingredient was wild rice.  Did you know it’s a grain and tastes incredibly good in both [...]
