It will be our pleasure to assist you with dinner reservations, recommend area attractions or course out a drive/bike route. We made our dream of owning a B&B a reality in March of 1998. With Marie's profession in the hospitality industry in Wisconsin and Memphis, Tennessee plus, Mike's expertise in national food manufacturer sales, it has made this journey a little more comfortable.

Shop Dregne's Scandinavian Gifts 5,000 square foot store featuring items for every part of the house! Kitchen, living room furniture, lace items, curtains, Fenton Glass, book department, Norwegian clothing, clogs, kitchen items, dishes, food, and lefse makers, plus a year round Christmas shop. Westby celebrates two Norwegian heritage events each year. A Norwegian Folk Festival, Syttende Mai, is an annual festival that is in honor of Norway's independence from Sweden and is held the weekend closest to May 17th. Our Snowflake Ski Jump Tournament draws skiers from Norway, Finland, Canada, Germany and other nations to compete against America's top jumpers. Held in February, it takes place just outside of Westby in Timber Coulee. If Norwegian heritage is on the agenda, then the Norskedalen Heritage Center in Coon valley is a must. Their Midsummer Fest in June, the Threshing Bee in September, and the Civil War Heritage Weekend are filled with activities and traditions. Ramble around the beautiful valleys and ridges by visiting the largest settlement of Amish in Wisconsin. The Amish farms located just North of Westby have an assortment of goods including furniture, quilts, plants, bakery goods, and maple syrup. No sales on Sundays and no photos please. Travel around the countryside of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve's thousands of acres of watershed property for mountain biking, horse and hiking trails, birding, hunting, fishing, canoeing, the covered bridge and new visitor center. Westby area offers 200 miles of abundant trout streams that are rated with some of the best fishing in the Midwest region. Meander up the Mississippi River Road for breathtaking views of the sunsets or watch for soaring eagles as you take a steamboat ride. La Crosse events that are a must to attend is Riverfest for the 4th of July celebration, Oktoberfest in October, and the Rotary Holiday Lights Spectacular held the entire month of December. Closer to Westby is the quaint city of Viroqua. This county seat community is abundant with life where you can explore the fine shops that line their main street or plan on attending Wild West Days in August. Return to a Simpler Time with a beautiful journey to Westby that is a 3.5-hour drive from the Minneapolis/St Paul area, 4-5 hours from downtown Chicago and 2 hours from Madison, Wisconsin. From Des Moines, Iowa you will travel cross-country in 4.5 hours to Westby and from Dubuque, Iowa in 2 hours. A journey that is close enough to tell your friends you have "been somewhere great"!
