The Slow Food philosophy is a good, clean and fair food – it should taste good and celebrate culture and regional diversity; it should be produced in a clean way that is as good for the planet as it is for our bodies; and food producers should receive fair compensation for their work. So many Wisconsin B&Bs live by this farm-to-plate approach in their menu development. Two that really stand out are the Brambleberry B&B in Taylor, which may just serve more organic homegrown slow food than any other B&B in the state, and Fountain Prairie Inn in Fall River, where they serve local, sustainably raised food and have been members of the slow food movement for years now. Don’t be shy about asking our innkeepers where the food on their menu comes from. You might be surprised to learn the eggs, maple syrup, fruit-filled pastries and even pork sausages are fresh from the farm.
