Run a Wisconsin Turkey Trot or Jingle Bell Race, Recover at a Wisconsin B&B

Here's a way to have your turkey and eat it too. Run in one of the many Thanksgiving-themed events around the state and then spend a few nights at a Wisconsin B&B as a reward for a run well done. Starting this weekend, we like the Run with the Turkeys 5K race in Pleasant Prairie. The Hillcrest Inn and Carriage House in Burlington is just a short trot away. There are a number of Turkey Trot events on Thanksgiving Day, with proceeds going to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCAs in the cities in which they're staged. Choose the race then search by city for a B&B. Pages 2 and 3 of the race listings includes Jingle Bell Runs, Frostbite Races (hmmm, could they have come up with a more inviting name?!) and Santa Shuffles. We like the Dickens of a Run & Walk set for December 4 in Stoughton. Stay at the Altemus Corners B&B to further the Victorian theme. No need to count calories of those gourmet breakfasts you'll enjoy at the B&Bs when you pair a getaway with a little running served on the side.
